Douglas Fir Wood Flooring
Item #: GMWDF
Unfinished Solid | Northwest Native Hardwood Floor
A Northwest classic for a century,
nothing defines the style of the historic Victorian or Craftsman West
Coast style like clear vertical grain Douglas Fir. Ages to a
wonderfully warm caramel/amber tone with some creamy sapwood. They've developed sources for this old growth favorite that are
conscientious of the source, from local large individual salvaged
dead and dying hazard
trees to those forests managed for long term sustainability per the
standards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC certified).
Green Mountain Woodworks also produce a beautiful Alpine Grade fir, from much smaller trees
that have grown slowly in thick, stunted stands due to years of fire
suppression in our National Forests. (Call or email us for more info).
Quality is Green Mountain Woodwork's first priority. Their lumber is carefully milled and kiln dried to produce a straight and
stress-free floor board. Hand selected for grade, it is then moulded with a low offset tongue and groove for a
deeper wear layer. Their mill’s technicians maintain precise tolerances throughout the production process to
assure a tight, long length, clean fitting floor that makes installation quick and easy.

ECO-STATUS
We think that where your wood comes from is just as important a factor in determining what you choose for your home as is color, grain, hardness and price. For that reason, we list each of our woods with it's "ECO-STATUS", to help you make good decisions about the qualities of your materials.
CVG Plank Flooring's Eco-Status is:
NW NATIVE - Woods which are native to and manufactured within our Northwest Eco-Region. We've worked for years with the non-profit Sustainable Northwest's Healthy Forests, Healthy Communities partnership to encourage ecologically responsible and restorative forestry across our region, on both public and private forest lands.
FSC CERTIFIED - Wood that comes from forests managed to the standards of the Forest Stewardship Council- a third party non-profit organization that maintains the standards for "Sustainable Forestry". The FSC evaluates the long term forest management plans of land owners to assess for ecological and social health.
Alpine's Eco-Status is:
NW NATIVE
RESTORATIVE FORESTRY - Trees harvested in forest eco-system restoration projects designed to reduce the risk of catastrophic wild fires, encouraging wildlife habitat and restoring old-growth forests.
