A Truly Renewable Resource
Cork is made from the bark of the Cork Oak Tree. The tree is not cut down, the bark is harvested every nine years until the tree is upwards of two hundred years old. Cork Oak only grows in areas bordering the
Mediterranean Sea.
From Wine Corks to Flooring
After the wine corks are cut from the bark, the remaining cork is used to make flooring. The high density, moisture resistant, fiberboard core, makes the product a completely recycled product.
Cork as a Flooring Material
Cork Oak is a unique, natural product that is hypoallergenic, mildew, moisture, dust and pollen resistant. Cork flooring is very easy to clean and durable.
Cork's Unique Properties
Cork derives its remarkable properties from the cellular structure of
hollow polyhedral cells with extremely strong, flexible walls that are
waterproof and airtight. The cells are joined together in a honeycomb
fashion producing a very low-density, compressible, yet strong,
insulating material.
Cork is anti-static and is recommended for use where computers and electronic equipment are used.
Cork has a low flame spread and is safely used in nursing homes, day care, medical offices and retirement homes.
Cork can be used anywhere in the house because it is versatile, soft and warm.
Maintenance & Care
Every care possible has been taken in the manufacturing process to ensure many years of enjoyment from your new floor. Your flooring has been finished to the highest standards.
All that is required to maintain the appearance of your floor is a regular light cleaning with a damp sponge rinsed in warm water and soap. Do not use ammonia based cleaners to clean your floor.
